Research-based reform curricula can be significantly more effective than traditional approaches for a wide variety of students along axes for which the curriculum is designed — so far mostly concept learning.
We are only beginning to understand the more complex cognitive components of science learning such as expectations and attitudes. We do not yet know how to produce curriculum that significantly affects these variables.
