Relating Physics to one’s Real World Experience
The following problem on a makeup exam in algebra-based physics produced a peculiar answer.
- “A high jumper in going over a bar raises his center of mass by 4 feet. How fast was he going when he left the ground?”
- The student gave the answer “7840 ft/s”.
- When asked why she left that answer, she said “That’s what I calculated.”
