Title: EDCI 788N: Seminar in Socio-Cultural Theories of Learning

This class is a graduate reading seminar in which we will explore the role of culture and social interaction in students' learning, with a focus on science learning. We will pay particular attention to three issues:

When the various theories describing socio-cultural learning are descriptive and when they are normative.
The observational evidence they can bring to bear to support their claims and principles.
How they interact with the resources model of student cognitive response.
