Improving Measurements of Neutrino Cross Sections/Properties at a Beta Beam Experiment
Abstract:
Proposed Beta Beam facilities would be capable of producing intense beams of neutrinos or anti-neutrinos with well defined spectra. The neutrinos would come from beta decay nuclei that are boosted to relativistic speeds and stored in a ring adjacent to a detector. Neutrinos could be produced with energy ranges relevant for measuring: nuclear transition matrix elements, neutrino cross sections for astrophysical models, fundamental properties of the neutrino, or neutrino mixing parameters. The concept of this experiment and proposed measurements will be reviewed. Then, new calculations that show how these measurements can be made more accurate will be given.
