PHYSICS 751 Fall 2007

Topic: Elementary Particle Physics I.
This course will be a broad ranging introduction to particle physics. Physics 624 is a co-requisite. Topics to be covered include: quarks, leptons, the weak, strong and electromagnetic interactions, symmetry principles including CP violation, neutrino oscillations experimental methods including modern particle physics detectors.

Homework:
There will be about 10 problem sets assigned during the semester.

Term Paper: There will be a term paper on a topic mutually agreed upon by the student and the instructor.

Grade: The semester grade will be based on the homework and the term paper
with the following tentative weights: homework 60%, term paper 40%.
