Topic: Elementary
This course will be a broad ranging introduction to particle physics.
Physics
624 is a co-requisite. Topics to be covered include: quarks, leptons,
the weak,
strong and electromagnetic interactions, symmetry principles including
CP
violation, neutrino oscillations experimental methods including modern
particle
physics detectors.

will be about 10 problem
sets assigned during the semester.
Term Paper: There
will be a term paper on a topic mutually agreed upon by the student and
the
instructor.
Grade: The
semester grade will be based on the homework and the term paper
with the following tentative weights: homework 60%, term paper 40%.
