3. Format for newsletters discussed, including a one-time per year color issue (possibly).  Photos of dogs will be included for a fee.  More on this later, but hopefully we will have a newsletter  ready by Specialty time. Doug Bollinger (RMagicShihTzu@aol.com) will oversee/coordinate/produce. Send him your information (brags, litters, interesting stuff, dajin journal, etc.).  Remember...  WE ARE WHAT YOU MAKE US!!

4. Membership - dues notice in the mail this weekend per John Timney. You must be paid up to vote or receive awards.

The following topics were not discussed but require our action:

Should you have suggestions for our judging panel for next year's specialty please let me now as soon as possible.  We should get this to the Baltimore County Kennel Club soon so we have a chance for input.  E-mail me at desalvo@physics.umd.edu. (fax: 301/314-9922, or mail them to me 1734 Tarleton Way, Crofton, MD 21114, or call me (301)405-5948 - work, (410)721-7593 - home.)

Volunteers are needed to do "odd" and "not-so-odd" jobs at and before our specialty...e.g., set-up, raffle ticket sales, hospitality, etc.  You can contact Pat Brink (301/977-6789, or pbrink6454@aol.com) or me (410/721-7593 evenings or desalvo@physics.umd.edu) to lend a helping hand. We look forward to hearing from you ALL!

*Members who have renewed their membership should start gathering your information for our upcoming Club Awards (for titles received during calendar year 1999.) If I get your information, i.e., copies of Championship Certificates and your preference (plaque at your expense**, certificate at ours) by March 15th, I may be able to have your awards available at this year's specialty as well. (You can fax them to me at: 301/314-9922).  Awards that you may apply for include:

Breeder Award (if you are the breeder of record of a titled dog awarded by the American Kennel Club)
Champion/Obedience/Agility Award (if you are/were the owner of record at the time of the title award)
Stud Dog - sire of 5 or more champions
Brood Bitch - dam of 3 or more champions

**The cost of plaques vary from about $12 to $70, depending on size, quality of wood, number of plates, engraving, etc. If you choose to get a multi-plate plaque then you pay for the initial plaque and engraving and the Club will pay for the plate engraving in subsequent years - until you fill it up.  Then you pay for your second multi-plate plaque and engraving, and so on and so on....! Should you have questions, contact me!

Awards are NOT automatic...you must apply for them.

(Note:  A copy of this will be mailed to the 10 or so members who do not have e-mail addresses...yet.  Also, I am in the processing of updating our website. It takes some time but I'm hoping it will be current soon. I'll let you know when so you can review it to make sure it represents us adequately. If you are eligible and you apply for an Award, send me a photo of your dog, and it hopefully will appear on our website for the whole world to see!!)

 Here's looking at you!!

Lorraine DeSalvo
President (but not for long!!)
