"Francium Spectroscopy "

ABSTRACT: Francium, the heaviest and radioactive alkali, is an ideal laboratory for studies of nuclear physics and parity violation. A series of lifetime and hyperfine splitting measurements in our high efficiency trap show an understanding of the wavefunctions to better than 1%. We propose a method to measure the anapole moment in a chain of francium isotopes to constraint the values of weak meson-nucleon couplings.
